An installation of 161 cards to stand for the Mother’s Days, Birthdays, and Christmases that my mother will miss (between her 47th birthday and 100th birthday). This piece gives presence to the amount and variety of anticipated absences. The cards are installed and hang from a wire which holds the cards in order by “date” and holiday. The wire is hung 12” below the ceiling of the gallery, to allow the viewer to see the cards, but not interact with them, keeping them out of reach.
